Peoria Kroger shopper assaults security officer over how he was dressed
PEORIA IL Aug 6 2018  — An area man, upset with the way a grocery store security guard was dressed, verbally assailed the guard, struck him and then threw cheese at him.
According to a report filed at the Peoria Police Department, the man, 56, was at the Kroger at 801 W. Lake Ave. at about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday when he approached a manager there, saying he didn’t like how the security guards were dressed.
The manager tried to explain that it was their uniform and then asked a guard to escort the man out of the store.
The man, the report said, got irate and berated the guard before striking him in the chest and then throwing a package of cheese at him, which hit the guard in the face.
The guard managed to subdue the man, who was arrested on the misdemeanor charge of battery. He has since been released from the county jail after posting $100 bail.
