Peoria Public Schools reach settlement with former security officer
PEORIA IL January 16 2020 A settlement has been reached between Peoria Public Schools and a former security officer.
Back in 2017, PPS Resource Officer Ryan Schubert was fired for a racially inflammatory Facebook post, saying he was going to urinate on a statue of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Schubert was fired in a 5-2 vote in December 2017, and he later filed a lawsuit against the school district.
In a settlement agreement with PPS, Schubert agreed to receive $30,000 in back pay and officially resign, according to the school district.
