Person arrested in ruckus with Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center security
Joliet IL Sept 20 2018 A Chicago man was arrested after he shouted obscenities and caused a disturbance in a Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center lobby, police said.
At 7:35 a.m. Friday, Omarr I. Fahim, 28, of the 6500 block of South Woodlawn Avenue was arrested and jailed in connection with the incident. He was charged with aggravated assault, criminal trespass to real property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers were dispatched to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center after they received a report of a man in the lobby area refusing to leave when he was asked to do so, Joliet police Sgt. Darrell Gavin said in an email.
When the officers arrived, they saw Fahim lying on the floor of the emergency room reception area with his shoes off, shouting obscenities and causing a disturbance, Gavin said.
During their investigation, the officers spoke to security staff at the hospital who said that Fahim was behaving erratically, yelling obscenities and trying to fight with the hospital staff, Gavin said.
Fahim was asked to leave but became even more disruptive while threatening to cause physical harm, Gavin said.
Officers arrested Fahim and he was taken to Will County jail, where he is being held on a $50,000 bond.
At Fahim’s bond hearing Tuesday, he was assigned a public defender, according to court records.
