Piedmont Technical College security report attempted theft of hearse

Deputies say a man was caught on camera trying to steal a hearse.
Cody Duane Ross, 27, of 4 Cedar St., Ware Shoals was arrested Wednesday and charged with distribution/possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of other schedule I-V, possession of stolen property and possession of stolen vehicle, greater than $5,000.
On Wednesday, a Greenwood County deputy met with a Piedmont Technical College security officer at the school’s College Funeral Services building, according to a report. The security officer showed the deputy where someone tried to steal the school’s hearse, damaging the ignition, and also entered a nearby minivan.
Officers found a man asleep in a minivan on the far side of the building. The van had been reported stolen from Spartanburg County, the report said.
