Pittsburgh security officer shot by juveniles breaking into vehicles

A security officer who confronted some young people trying to break into vehicles in the city’s East Liberty neighborhood has been shot according to police.
Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesperson Emily Bourne said that the shooting happened around 7:45 p.m. in the 6100 block of Station Street. Police were dispatched for reports of a single shot fired.
Officers found a 31-year-old security officer with a gunshot wound to his leg.
Public Safety said that the security officer was working at a business when he noticed several juveniles who appeared to be breaking into vehicles in a nearby parking lot.
As he was approaching the group, one of the young people shot him.
The security guard, who was not named, was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Bourne said he was “alert, conscious and speaking with officers” on scene.
No arrests have been announced in connection to this shooting.
The Mobile Crime Unit and Violent Crime Units responded to the scene. An investigation is ongoing.
