WASHINGTON DC March 14, 2022, A 16-year-old teenager has been arrested in the robbery of an eyeglass store that netted over $100,000.
Police arrested the 16-year-old boy Monday for his involvement in the robbery.
More than $100,000 worth of merchandise from Georgetown Optician, located on Wisconsin Avenue, was stolen, investigators say.
Police said that multiple people were involved in the robbery.
Officers located the vehicle involved and gave chase that ended in Virginia after the vehicle crashed and rolled over.
A witness told investigators that a group of people forced their way into the eyeglass store. According to police, the witness was told by a one of the individuals who forced entry to get down, motioning that he had a weapon.
The other suspects then stole property out of the display case, which totaled to about $102,000, police say.
The group left the scene and headed toward a car that was parked out front of the business, police say. The people entered the car and a police chase ensued down Dumbarton Street Northwest.
The suspects accelerated at a fast speed in the car, eventually crashing northbound on the George Washington Parkway near Spout Run Parkway in Virginia. MPD said that there are two people from the crash in custody. There are no injuries to either of the suspects or anyone involved, police say.
