Police fatally shoot man at fireworks-holiday celebration
POULSBO, Wash. July 5 2019— A police officer shot and killed a man at a holiday celebration in Poulsbo on Wednesday night.
It happened at the Third of July celebration at about 9 p.m.
Officers responded to reports of a man threatening people in the middle of a large crowd.
A struggle broke out between the officers and the suspect. During the fight, one officer fired his gun killing the suspect.
The man was taken to a nearby park and airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he died. His age wasn’t immediately available.
No officers were injured.
The Kitsap Critical Incident Response Team, made up of members from several law enforcement agencies, will be investigating.
The annual show happens at Waterfront Park and the fireworks show hadn’t started yet, but many people were gathered in the area for the event.
