Police nab woman linked to Outlets at Barstow armed robbery; two men still at large
BARSTOW CA Aug 6 2017 — Police arrested a woman connected to an armed robbery at the Outlets at Barstow July 28, but two other suspects remain at large.
Isis Cherelle Womble, 26, of Victorville, was arrested after she was linked to an armed robbery there last week. Over 90 Coach items and “several thousands dollars” were stolen and eventually recovered, police said in a Friday statement.
Barstow Police officers responded at 8:35 p.m. that night after receiving reports of an armed robbery there, located in the 2700 block of Tanger Way, and spoke with the victim, Weikai Sha. He reported that two men pointed a firearm at him — possibly a shotgun, police said — and “struck him in the face with the firearm as they demanded his personal property.”
Sha said the men robbed him of several thousands dollars in cash, as well as numerous items he purchased from the Coach Outlet store. A woman was with the two men and alerted them when the outlet security guard was approaching. The trio fled the scene in a vehicle, police said.
Sha got the vehicle description and a partial license plate as they fled, which officers broadcast to the California Highway Patrol and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department in an attempt to find it.
The vehicle was spotted driving south on Interstate 15 between Barstow and Victorville approximately 40 minutes after the robbery. A chase ensued when the driver failed to stop for CHP officers, police said.
The vehicle exited at the Stoddard Wells off-ramp, entering a residential area before it crashed in the area of Dante Street and Juniper Avenue. Police said CHP officers, with the assistance of Sheriff’s deputies, took the sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as Womble, into custody without incident.
Womble was identified by the victim as the woman at the scene of the robbery, police said, as well as identifying the vehicle she was driving as the suspect vehicle. Womble was then arrested on suspicion of armed robbery.
Police said evidence technicians collected 46 Coach purses, 37 Coach wallets and 8 Coach belts from the vehicle. The firearm was not recovered.
Womble made her first appearance in court on Wednesday, where she pleaded not guilty to a charge of second-degree robbery. She also denied a firearms allegation, court records show. Her bail was set at $100,000.
Booking records show Womble was released on bail late Thursday. She’s scheduled to appear for a pre-preliminary hearing on Aug. 9, with a preliminary hearing to follow Aug. 14.
The two other suspects were identified as Travon Attison and Jeffrey McCutcheon. Police issued arrest warrants for them on Wednesday, but the men remain at large as of Friday afternoon.
Police are urging anyone who may encounter Attison or McCutcheon to not approach or contact them.
“Both suspects are considered armed and dangerous and anyone who encounters them should immediately call the Barstow Police Department Dispatch Center or their local law enforcement agency,” police stated.
