Port Authority cops revive man who collapsed, stopped breathing at Newark airport
Newark NJ Jan 23 2020 Seven Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police officers helped revive a man who collapsed Tuesday morning while riding an escalator at Newark Liberty International Airport, police said.
The 51-year-old Michigan man fell backward around 10:15 a.m., hit his head and stopped breathing, according to a statement from the Port Authority police department.
Officer Nick Brucato arrived first and began CPR before being joined by officers Phil Campo, Joe Francavilla, Matthew Rosati, Steve Magnavita, Michael Raccioppi and Michael Tilatitsky,.
While they worked, the victim showed no signs of life six times, but the officers were eventually able to restore the man’s breathing and pulse, authorities said.
The man was taken to Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, where he was in stable condition Tuesday evening and was undergoing further treatment, police said.
