Newark NJ October 2 2018
Port Authority Police officers jumped into action and saved a man’s life when he started having a heart attack in Newark Liberty International Airport on Saturday, said the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
Shortly before 1:30 p.m. Saturday, the unidentified man began to suffer from what appeared to be a heart attack on the AirTrain in Terminal A, said Lenis Rodrigues, Port Authority spokeswoman. A bystander began to administer CPR until Officer Amelia Barone arrived.
After taking over, Barone was joined by Officers Tom Montagne, Manny Almeida, Gerard Del Polito and Elizabeth Zurlnick, who all helped keep the ailing man alive. Using a defribillator, the officers were able to revive the man, who was then taken to Newark Beth Israel Hospital.
As of Monday, the man was recovering in the hospital.
