Port Wentworth police officer dies after after exposure to COVID-19 while on duty
PORT WENTWORTH, Ga. Aug 13 2021 A Port Wentworth police officer died early Wednesday morning from complications resulting in an exposure to COVID-19 while on duty, according to a post from the Port Wentworth Police Department (PWPD).
The department said Lt. Dale Sylvester Jr. served with the PWPD for about five years.
Lt. Sylvester retired from the Chatham County Police Department/Chatham County District Attorney’s office after 26 years of service.
The department said funeral arrangements will be posted at a later date.
