Portland police arrest man after alleged assault of security guard

PORTLAND, Maine March 3, 2026— Portland police arrested a 31-year-old man early Monday after a security guard was severely assaulted at a downtown office building.
Officers were called to 1 City Center at about 3:50 a.m. on March 2 for a report of a serious assault, according to a news release from the Portland Police Department.
Police said the victim, a security guard, was taken to Maine Medical Center for treatment. The extent of the injuries was not immediately released. The incident was captured on security cameras, allowing officers to obtain a photo and description of the suspect, according to the release.
At about 5:21 a.m., officers located the suspect on Marginal Way and took him into custody without incident.
Police identified the suspect as Daniel Noble, 31, who is unhoused. He was transported to the Cumberland County Jail and charged with aggravated assault, robbery, aggravated criminal trespass, criminal threatening, and theft by unauthorized taking or transfer (priors), deputies said.
