Portland security officer finds dead body behind Goodwill store
PORTLAND, OR July 1 2018
A security officer in northeast Portland found a dead body behind a Goodwill building Friday morning, police said.
The body was discovered near brush on the property in the 12200 block of Northeast Halsey Street.
The company security guard discovered the body around 10:30 a.m. and reported it to the Portland Police Bureau.
Officers say they consider the man’s death suspicious. They’re not sure how long the body had been there before the security guard found it.
Police do not believe there is a concern for public safety based on the early investigation.
A neighbor said it was starting to wake up to police near his apartments.
“It was a little weird waking up to the cops saying we couldn’t wash our car over there because it was a crime scene,” Gerrad Roberts said.
Detectives with the Portland Police Bureau Detective Division’s Homicide Detail continue to investigate. Officers have not released the dead man’s identity.
