Portland security officers responding to activated alarm find B&E in progress at school
Portland, Oregon July 21 2018
Private security officers responding to an activated alarm at around 3:30 am at a school found damage to the building and signs of an active burglary.
Security quickly notified police and waited outside for back-up officers to arrive at the temporary Grant High School on the Marshall campus on Southeast 91st avenue.
Sgt. Chris Burley with Portland Police says officers’ setup a perimeter around the school and went in with a K-9.
Three teens were located and taken into custody.
Officers found a backpack inside with a loaded gun that was reported stolen. The suspects also broke a window and damaged locks and walls with paint.
Police and security officers made a sweep of the building and found a lot of damage in several areas of the school.
Three teens were taken to a Juvenile Detention center. The suspects were lodged at the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Home on charges of Burglary in the Second Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, Theft by Receiving in the First Degree, and Possession of a Loaded Firearm in Public.
The suspects’ identities will not be provided by the Police Bureau, in accordance with Oregon State law.
