Protesters clash with security guards at MLS announcement in Nashville
NASHVILLE, Tenn. Dec 22 2017— Security guards refused to allow flea market vendors and protesters with ‘Save Our Fairgrounds’ into the announcement of a new Major League Soccer franchise in Nashville on Wednesday.
Video captured by Fox 17 shows the heated confrontation between protesters and security guards.
The organization has long-opposed plans to build a new soccer stadium at the Nashville Fairgrounds and went as far as to sue the Metro government to stop it from being built.
A judge dismissed that lawsuit Monday, but the group said it’s not done fighting.
“We are here in opposition of the location of the stadium at the fairgrounds,” said Lin Tacker with Save Our Fairgrounds. “We’re not in opposition to soccer, but it’s the wrong location. It’s going to seriously the track from every activity that’s now I’m going at the fairgrounds.”
Save Our Fairgrounds said despite the lawsuit being dismissed, attorneys are looking into other legal action.
