Queens nightclub bouncer arrested in shooting
Queens NY October 23 2018 A Queens nightclub bouncer was arrested on Saturday for assaulting a clubgoer and shooting another, prosecutors said.
Isaac Rios was spotted by an on-duty NYPD officer who was nearby the Jouvay Nightclub on Liberty Avenue in Jamaica was wearing a shirt labeled “Security” and yelling at patrons to leave the location after 2:30 a.m.
Before a single shot rang out, Rios punched a man in a face and threw “an item” into the passenger side door of a silver Acura RDX, according to the criminal complaint.
Rios, 39, was arraigned on Oct. 20 for attempted murder, assault, weapons possession and reckless endangerment charges. If convicted, Rios faces up to 25 years in prison.
Nicholas Grant was shot once in the right leg and was treated for his injuries at a local hospital.
A spent shell casing was recovered nearby the car.
The incident was captured on surveillance video, according to the criminal complaint. A .9 mm Glock was recovered from the scene, prosecutors said.
Queens Criminal Court Judge Toni M. Cimino set $50,000 bail for Rios and ordered him back to court on November 2.
