QuikTrip Security Officer Shot in Phoenix
PHOENIX AZ April 21, 2025 – A suspect has been arrested after a shooting at a QuikTrip gas station in Phoenix left a security officer seriously hurt.
According to Phoenix Police, officers responded to the QT, near 27th Avenue and Thomas Road, at around 9:40 p.m. on April 10 and found a man with a gunshot wound. The man was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
A few days later, the suspect in the shooting, 27-year-old Tarrance Sykes, was found in Wickenburg and taken into custody.
According to court documents, Sykes told police the victim pushed him at the QuikTrip before he pulled out a gun and shot him.
Sykes said he shaved his head after the shooting and wore a wig to change his appearance.
“People were telling him to leave so he went to Wickenburg Arizona,” court documents read.
A shooting investigation is taking place at a QuikTrip near 27th Avenue and Thomas Road. Multiple other crimes have happened at the same QT in recent months. FOX 10’s Dominique Newland reports.
Sykes was booked into jail and is accused of aggravated assault and discharging a firearm within city limits. He’s being held on a $225,000 cash bond.
Multiple police investigations have taken place at the same QT over the past couple of months.
Days after a deadly shooting at a QuikTrip in Phoenix, a man died after being found stabbed at the same gas station, police said.
Two days earlier, a man was found dead at the QT. Police say he suffered a gunshot wound.
An investigation is underway after a man was found dead on Feb. 21 at a QuikTrip near 27th Avenue and Thomas Road.
No arrests have been made in either case.
