Retail Security Officer Murdered

Wichita police reported Friday that a security officer who was shot during a disturbance at a downtown convenience store has died from his injuries.
39-year-old Will Robinson was shot Wednesday night after escorting a man out of a Quik Trip store at Broadway and Murdock for causing a disturbance.
The two men got into a disturbance across the street and a shot was fired.
Police now have a 41-year-old man is custody for the shooting. He has been booked for attempted murder and criminal possession of a gun. The suspect is reported to have previous felony convictions and was not legally allowed to have a firearm.
Police captain Jason Stephens said a 39-year-old security guard was found in an alley across the street from the store. Stephens said the security guard had escorted a man out of the store after a disturbance, and the two got into a fight outside the store.
This is the 31st homicide of a private security officer in 2021.
