Robbers smash window at Valley Plaza Mall jewelry store
BAKERSFIELD, Calif Nov 15 2017 What sounded like a gunshot being fired inside the Valley Plaza Mall Tuesday turned out to be burglars smashing out a glass window at a jewelry store.
Police and security responded to the burglary after two masked men carried out the smash-and-grab robbery Tuesday afternoon at the Kevin Jewelers store inside the mall.
An officer said the men broke the store’s window, grabbed jewelry and ran off. A witness said the men had a large hammer.
Police said that a worker at the nearby Wetzel’s Pretzels said she thought the breaking of the glass was a gunshot at first. That worker also described the men’s masks as the type hospital workers wear over their mouths.
There were no reported injuries.
Police only released a generic description of the suspects.
