Robbery suspect points gun at Safeway security and leads police on multi-day chase

Portland police arrested a suspect Saturday afternoon after what they described as an armed robbery followed by a three-day long chase.
Jeremy Lowell Cannon, 30, is charged with Robbery in the First Degree, Robbery in the Second Degree, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, three counts of Attempting to Elude By Vehicle, two counts of Attempted Assault in the First Degree, and three counts of Reckless Driving.
According to police, the pursuit started on Thursday, Dec. 5, when a Safeway on Southeast 122nd Avenue was robbed. Police were told the suspect pointed a gun at store security guard during the robbery and then left in a car. East Precinct officers swept the area but found nothing.
The next day, the car involved in the robbery was spotted and was pursued by police. Officers stopped when speeds exceeded 100 miles an hours and teh suspect got away .
Officers spotted the car again on Saturday, but when they attempted to pull it over, the suspect fled. Police called off the chase when speeds became dangerous.
Later that same day, authorities found the car one final time.
A chase broke out for the third time and at the intersection of Southeast 60th Avenue and Woodstock. The suspect rammed into a police vehicle, rendering it inoperable, and drove off. But an officer crashed his patrol vehicle into the suspect’s car near Southeast 57th Avenue and Insley Street. In the final collision, the suspect’s car was disabled, police said.
One officer was left with minor injuries following the crash and was taken to an area hospital. The suspect was also taken a hospital.
