Rochester Hills district court security charge woman with concealed weapon
Oakland County MI July 18 2019
A 20-year-old Pontiac woman was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon after deputies working court security at the Rochester Hills district court.
Oakland County Sheriff’s Office deputies noticed a suspicious item in a bag being carried into the 52nd District Court, which services Rochester, Rochester Hills, Lake Orion, Oakland Township, Auburn Hills, and the rest of the northeast corner of the county.
Deputies noticed the item as it was put through an x-ray machine.
“The item was retrieved from the bag and found to be a stun gun,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “The subject stated that they had purchased the stun gun from Amazon.com.”
Her charges stem from not having a valid concealed pistol license, which covers other weapons.
The woman refused to make any other statements to police, who detained her at the courthouse before sending her to the Oakland County Jail.
On Amazon, a variety of stun guns are available, with prices ranging from $10 to $120, though none appeared to be part of Prime Day deals. One could purchase a Taser Pulse with two carriages and LED laser for nearly $350, though reviews indicated concerns about the batteries and need for replacements.
