Rockford IL SWAT team makes arrest in violent attack on security officers
ROCKFORD, Ill. May 23 2019 — Rockford Police arrested three suspects in connection with a violent attack on two private security officers which is said to have occurred Monday night.
Rockford Police say the two guards, a 21-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, were attempting to make an arrest for a drug violation at the Auburn Manor apartments, at 4026 Auburn Street, when they were set upon by a group of seven to ten suspects, both male and female.
Both victims were taken to the hosptial for treatment of minor injuries.
Police say they were able to arrest 28-year-old Porscha Gilmore at Auburn Manor. She was charged with Aggravated Battery to a Private Security Officer and Mob Action.
Two additional suspects were identified through a subsequent investigation by the police department’s Gang Unit.
20-year-old Johnnell Turner was stopped by police during a traffic stop at 3 p.m. Tuesday, at West State and Avon Street. He was also charged with Aggravated Battery to a Private Security Officer and Mob Action.
23-year-old Damonte Jones was located at a residence in the 700 block of North Sunset around 4 p.m., where he was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Battery to a Private Security Officer and Mob Action.
Police, detectives and the SWAT team conducted a warrant check and a security sweep of Auburn Manor at 4:30 p.m.
