S.C. police investigating security officer use of pepper spray at school

An investigation is underway after a contract security officer deployed pepper spray at a school exposing and injuring at least seven students.
Orangeburg Consolidated School District Five officials say they are investigating the discharge of pepper spray by the security officer that affected numerous students Thursday.
The district stated that the pepper spray was deployed at North Middle/High School Thursday afternoon by a security officer.
The incident is being reviewed by neither law enforcement nor the school district would say why the security guard released the substance.
Seven students were exposed to the spray and they were treated by EMS according to authorities..
District officials would not give any other information on the incident other than they are working on getting statements from witnesses.
The district says the officer is employed at the school through a contract with DTH Security.
The North Police Department is investigating the incident.
