Saginaw security guard leading effort to stop parking lot parties
SAGINAW, Mich. July 26 2020— After Saginaw Police say two young men were shot and killed at a gas station, a local security officer is taking action in hopes of saving other lives.
Since Sunday, Kentrez Fraizer and his team has stepped up to patrol parking lot parties gathering at the Sunoco at the corner of Holland and Genesee.
Fraizer is the owner of a security company and founder of a group called Stand Up, Speak Up.
Saginaw Police put out a reminder yesterday for parents to be mindful of their children’s whereabouts. In a Facebook post the department says there has been an uptick in kids under 17 violating the city curfew from 10 pm until 5 am.
Fraizer says he’s been in talks with the Saginaw Police Department about programs for teens, but in the meantime he’s patrolling parking lots to keep kids safe.
“We’re trying to bring awareness and get more volunteers to come out around this time just to save our youth, because we know when they have these unlawful gatherings they believe they are having fun but danger lurks in the shadows,” volunteer security guard Kentrez Fraizer.
So far Fraizer says he has at least 40 volunteers join his efforts. He’s calling for any concerned citizen to meet at the Broadway hair store parking lot Friday night at 10p to patrol the area.
