San Angelo man hit hospital security in attempt to leave emergency detention
SAN ANGELO TX Jan 11 2020 Police arrested a San Angelo man at Shannon Medical Center after he hit two hospital security guards Tuesday, according to an arrest affidavit.
On Jan. 7, police responded to the call of a combative patient at the Shannon Emergency Room in the 100 block of East Harris Street. Upon arrival, police learned that a man placed under emergency detention tried to leave and hit two “loss prevention” officers in the face.
Jose Vallejo, 23, was arrested on suspicion of two counts of assault on a public servant and one count of misdemeanor resisting arrest, search, or transport. He remained in Tom Green County Jail in lieu of a $20,500 bond, according to online jail records.
Assault on a public servant is a third-degree felony punishable by 2-10 years in jail and a fine not to exceed $10,000. The charge of resisting arrest, search, or transport is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in prison and a fine not to exceed $4,000.
