SC security officer shot at nightclub
Vance SC April 3 2018 A security officer was shot in the arm at the Brass Elephant Club on Old Number Six Highway in Vance, according to a sheriff’s office incident report.
An officer from the Moncks Corner Police Department called the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office after the man arrived at Roper Berkeley Hospital with a gunshot wound to his arm around 4 a.m. Sunday.
A deputy spoke with the man via phone and he reported that the incident occurred inside the club.
The man said he noticed some males arguing with females. The males held guns in their hands, so he tried to look into the matter.
He said the males walked away from the females as he approached them.
About that time, the males turned around and the security officer heard three gunshots. That’s when he noticed he was shot.
He told the deputy that he got into his car and drove himself to Roper Berkeley Hospital for assistance.
He stated that he didn’t want to pursue charges against the gunman because he wasn’t certain who shot him, the report said.
Deputies said they are investigating the incident.
