School student’s mother arrested after assaulting safety officers

MILWAUKEE WI February 23, 2026 The mother of a student, 33-year-old Yesheva Daniels, is charged with felony battery and threats after she allegedly attacked school safety officers at GreenTree Prep Academy on Milwaukee’s north side.
According to a criminal complaint, a 14-year-old student was reprimanded earlier that day for being on her phone at school, during which time she “[got] disrespectful with staff members and threatened to call people to the location.”
Prosecutors say Daniels entered the school without permission around dismissal time and, when confronted by a school safety officer, punched them.
Four students joined in on the fighting, including the 14-year-old, and two other officers were injured trying to break up the fight. Police observed visible injuries on the safety officers, including a contusion and scratches.
Daniels then allegedly threatened to come back with a gun, saying she was “fixin to come back and shoot this motherf****r up.”
MPS issued a statement regarding the incident:
Dear GreenTree Preparatory Academy Families and Staff,
We value you as a member of our school community, and we want you to know about a situation that took place in our school.
At the end of the school day last Friday, a parent became physical with one of our school safety assistants. Another relative and a related MPS student also took part in the disruption.
We immediately notified the Milwaukee Police Department, and officers responded. In addition to any police action taken against the parent, we have issued a no-trespass against this individual, meaning that they will no longer be allowed on school grounds.
Milwaukee Public Schools has procedures in place for such incidents and will take any and all appropriate disciplinary action against the student who participated. We are following the MPS Student Code of Conduct, which can be found inside the Parent/Student Handbook on Rights, Responsibilities, and Discipline.

Daniels made her initial appearance in court Thursday morning.
If convicted, she could face up to 11 years in prison.
