Seattle police arrest violent repeat shoplifter
SEATTLE WA Sept 9 2019 Seattle police said a “violent repeat shoplifter” who has punched, head-butted and spat on security guards at stores in previous incidents was arrested Wednesday afternoon.
The man was taken into custody about 3:30 p.m. at Third Avenue and Cherry Street after a security guard at a store on Second Avenue called police and reported seeing a shoplifter, authorities said.
Police said store staff told officers the man became violent after he was confronted about stealing alcohol, candy, clothes and sunglasses.
When officers took the man into custody, they also found a bag containing 28 grams of methamphetamine in one of his pockets and 2 grams of meth in nine smaller bags in another pocket.
Police said the man has been involved in three different incidents in July and August.
The man was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of narcotics possession with intent to distribute and an outstanding warrant.
