Seattle shoplifters assault security with shotgun
SEATTLE, WA. March 4 2018– Seattle police officers busted two teens and confiscated a sawed-off shotgun after they allegedly assaulted a grocery store security guard in the Mount Baker neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.
Police said employees of a grocery store in the 3800 block Rainier Avenue South called 911 Wednesday at 4:15 pm to report a shoplifting incident where the suspects had also assaulted store security.
The employees said the two suspects “slapped the security guard before running away on foot.”
Officers responding to the call spotted the two suspects — a 19-year-old-male and a 15-year-old girl — in the 3600 block of South Charleston Street.
“Officers took the two suspects into custody and found a sawed-off shotgun in the 19-year-old’s backpack as well as items taken from the store,” said an SPD statement.
Police booked the man into the King County Jail for possession of an unlawful firearm and the female suspect into King County Youth Services Center for a felony warrant.
