Officers alerted Saturday about a man trying car door handles in the parking garage of the Union Flats Apartments arrested a suspect for possession of drugs and burglary tools, the Union City Police Department said.
Officers responded about 4 a.m. to the complex on 11th Street after being notified by a security company about a suspicious man seen on video surveillance.
A description was also provided, and officers found a matching suspect crouched between two cars on the second floor of the garage, police said.
The man was carrying a crowbar and had suspected methamphetamine, with more of the drug found in a search of his backpack, along with a drug pipe and a variety of tools commonly used in burglaries, police said.
The man was arrested and booked for possession of burglary tools, drug paraphernalia, and a controlled substance.
