Security Fatally Shoots 4-Other Violence

Four fatal shootings and more than a half of dozen other shootings involving private security officers during the past week have left questions about training and oversight.
During the latest shooting, a Houston security officer confronted a man trespassing in a shopping center as he rummaged through some dumpsters.
The security guard had seen the man in the area Monday and told him to stay away or he would seek trespassing charges against him, according to police.
A confrontation ensued and as the man walked toward the security officer, he fired one shot killing the man.
Houston Police Department Lt. Larry Crowson confirmed Wednesday that the security guard was charged in connection with the death.
Police said that the shooting occurred the area in the 8200 block of Broadway Street.
Tucson Police reported that on Monday evening a man who entered a private business looking for his ex-girlfriend exchanged gunfire with security officers while being escorted off the property.
Police responded to the shooting at 5210 E. Williams Circle, near East Broadway Boulevard and South Craycroft Road, about 6 p.m.The ex-girlfriend’s coworkers were aware of a domestic violence incident involving the man days earlier and called security when he was spotted in the lobby, police say.Gunfire was exchanged in a fight between the man and the security guards that started soon after they approached him, police said.
The man shot one security guard’s boot, but he was not wounded.
One of the security officers fired and struck the man, police said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A gunman who appeared to be wearing tactical gear and wielding an assault rifle opened fire outside a federal courthouse in Dallas Monday morning, but no one aside from the alleged shooter appeared to be injured in the incident, police said.
Police responded to what they called an active shooter incident at the Earle Cabell Federal Courthouse in downtown Dallas at 8:50 a.m.
“There was an exchange of gunfire between a suspect and federal court security officers,” the Dallas Police Department wrote in a post on Twitter. “The suspect was shot and transported to an area hospital. No officers or citizens injured.”
The alleged gunman, identified by federal authorities as 22-year-old Brian Isaack Clyde, was gravely wounded in the gunbattle with Federal Protective Service officers, said Matthew DeSarno, special agent in charge at Federal Bureau of Investigation Dallas/Fort Worth office.
An Alabama security officer fatally shot a man as he tried to rob a nightclub during the early morning hours on Wednesday.
Police said that the armed man entered the business as they were closing and that’s when the security guard shot him twice in the chest.
The man succumbed to his injuries at the Birmingham medical center.
A Tulsa security officer was also shot to death during a confrontation at a Hookah Lounge.Tulsa police say that multiple shots were fired at a hookah lounge just before 3am at Fantasia Hookah Lounge at 4401 S. Memorial.
Police say that three people were injured after security broke up a flight.
The security officer was shot several times and died at a hospital.
Akron police are investigating after a man shot his girlfriend, who is also the mother of his child, and then exchanged gunfire with a security officer before he killed himself.
According to a press release, the shooting happened near East Exchange Street and South Arlington Street on Sunday.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim, a 23-year-old woman, with a gunshot wound to her back. She was taken to the hospital where she is listed in serious condition.
Witnesses told police that the victim was walking with her three small children and another woman and her child. The suspect, who is the father of the victim’s youngest child, pulled up in a truck and a fight ensued.
He then allegedly pulled out a gun and fired several shots. Police said the victim was shot while trying to shield her children. The other woman and child ran to a gas station for help.
An armed security guard at a construction site nearby intervened and exchanged gunfire with the suspect. The suspect attempted to fire more rounds, but the gun jammed.
Charlotte Mecklenburg police said that they are investigating three shootings by security officers that happened in the past seventy-two hours.
A man was shot as he dropped off his children at his mother’s apartment for no apparent reason.
He was shot once in the arm and once in the chest after security confronted him and told him to leave the property. As he began to drive away, the security guard shot him through his window,
Police are also investigating shootings by security officers at a club and at an arcade.
In the arcade shooting, a man identified as a security guard fired at a man fleeing an attempted robbery.
