Security firm fined for hiring unqualified doorman
Bradford UK October 5 2021
A man and a security company have both been fined more than £1,200 each after hiring an unqualified man to be a bouncer at a Bradford nightclub.
Both Basharat Bashir and Liberty Security Solutions admitted using an unlicensed security operative between November 2018 and March 2019 at a hearing in Bradford earlier this summer.
Bashir, 52, of Branksome Crescent, Heaton, and Liberty Security Solutions, registered at Birkby House in Bailiff Bridge had previously pleaded not guilty, but changed their pleas to guilty at the hearing on July 6 at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court.
They both admitted that between November 11, 2018, and March 18, 2019, while providing security industry services at Candy nightclub in Sackville Street, those services were provided wholly or partly by employing Abbas Ali Shah as a security operative.
This involved him engaging in licensable conduct, namely as a door supervisor at the club, and Shah was not the holder of a licence for that conduct.
They both admitting to allowing Shah to work as a doorman during that time period despite knowing he wasn’t qualified to do so.
Bashir was fined £176 and ordered to pay costs of £1,050 and a surcharge to victim services of £30, for a total amount of £1,256.
Liberty Security Solutions were fined £540 and ordered to pay costs of £1,050 and a surcharge of £54, for a total amount to be paid of £1,644.
The case had been brought to court by the Security Industry Authority.
Ryszard Lata, 64, a director of Liberty Security Solutions, was also in court that day on the same charges, but the offence was dismissed as no evidence was offered.
To work as a door supervisor, you need to have your SIA Door Supervisor License, which requires a six-day course to become qualified.
