Security guard arrested after striking man with vehicle
Wichita KS Aug 11 2020 Police took a 22-year-old security officer into custody early Monday after an accident in a south side parking lot.
Officers were called to the 500 block of East Pawnee around 1 a.m. and they found a 23-year-old man on a raised sidewalk. He was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Police determined that a security officer was on patrol in the parking lot but became distracted and drove up onto a sidewalk, hitting the pedestrian and then hitting a tree. The security officer was booked into jail for aggravated battery and obstruction.
Detectives are still investigating and information will be presented to the Sedgwick County district attorney’s office.
