Security Guard Arrested on Child Pornography Charges
WAYNE, NJ Aug 26 2020– A Hawthorne resident, Brian Tricoli, 49, was arrested by officers from the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crime Unit Tuesday on “child pornography related charges,” according to a statement from the Sheriff’s Office.
Tricoli worked as a security guard in the employ of the Sheriff’s Office since April of 2004 with a salary of $52,653.00.
The Sheriff’s Office said that the former guard “self-reported a computer issue that was related to possible child pornography that was stored on his computer” on June 11. When the computer and his cell phone were given over to detectives, he was “suspended with pay on June 12, while detectives continued the investigation.”
The Sheriff’s Office said that the detectives were able to employ various methods to uncover 79 child pornography files that were on a “cloud-based storage provider.” A tip which had been given by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children also connected Tricoli, detectives found during the course of their investigation.
With Tricoli’s arrest, he was suspended without pay and taken to jail.
