Security guard caught knocking man out on Fort Myers Beach
FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. March 17 2020– A security guard in Fort Myers Beach was recorded on cell phone video knocking a man out.
It happened Sunday at the Lani Kai Island Resort.
In the video, the Lani Kai bouncer punches the man three times, knocking him out cold in the sand. The bouncer and a few other guys help carry the man away, then the video ends.
Melissa Schnieder, Lani Kai public relations, said the incident stemmed from the man “punching, pushing and spitting blood” at security staff.
Schneider said the security guard involved was “counseled and reprimanded.”
He was not, however, fired.
“Obviously we do not condone this type of behavior with our security guards. However, the fact he was assaulted—I can’t blame him that he did that, however, we don’t condone that,” Schneider said
It is unclear what happened to the man who was knocked out after the video ends.
Schneider said she didn’t know where he went after, or if Lee County deputies were ever called in.
NBC2 reached out to deputies to see if they responded to this incident. So far, they haven’t responded.
