Security guard charged with arson of police station
Minneapolis MN 6/10/20
Branden Wolfe has been charged in the arson of the 3rd Precinct in Minneapolis, according to a press release from the Department of Justice. Wolfe, 23, has been charged with aiding and abetting arson and will appear in court on June 9. He is the first person to be charged in connection with the fire, the Star Tribune reported.
The 3rd Precinct went up in flames and was vandalized on May 28 amid widespread protests against the killing of George Floyd while in city police custody. Officers arrested Wolfe on June 3. He waived his Miranda rights and admitted that he was present for the fire, that he took property from the building and that he pushed a wooden barrel into the fire, according to the official complaint.
According to Tom Lyden of Fox 9 News, Wolfe was wearing body armor, duty belts, cuffs, baton and a knife stolen from the 3rd Precinct when he was arrested.
