Security guard escapes injury after confronting shoplifters armed with knife
Niagara Falls NY Dec 16 2021 A security guard escaped injury after he confronted two shoplifters, one armed with a knife, inside an LCBO store in Niagara Falls.
On Dec. 11, Niagara Regional Police said, a security guard spotted two men stealing items from the liquor store on Ferry Street.
The security guard confronted the pair and one of the men returned various merchandise before leaving the store.
When the security guard asked the second male to return items, he refused and there was a physical altercation.
At one point during the scuffle, police said, the suspect brandished a knife.
The altercation continued and the guard, who was not injured, was able to retrieve the stolen items.
Two suspects were arrested Wednesday.
During the arrest, one suspect attempted to pick up a knife before being placed in handcuffs, police said.
No officers were injured.
Charged with robbery, resist arrest and failing to comply with probation is Anthony Pembleton, 21, of Niagara Falls.
Charged with theft under $5,000 is James Headworth, 42, also of Niagara Falls.
