Security guard helps stop robbery in downtown Little Rock
LITTLE ROCK AR Aug 16 2018 Authorities say an armed security guard helped prevent a robbery early Tuesday morning after he saw the suspect threaten a nearby restaurant employee.
Officers said the attempted robbery occurred around 4:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Rally’s, located in the 5400 block of West 12th Street.
After police responded to the scene, they spoke with the victim who said he was sitting inside of his vehicle after closing Rally’s for the night when he was approached by a man pointing a revolver at him.
The victim said the suspect was demanding he get out of the car and open the doors of the restaurant.
According to the report, the security guard works as an armed guard for Securitas. He said he was inside the Fresenius Kidney Care Clinic watching the cameras when he saw the suspect crouching behind the dumpster near Rally’s.
The guard said he knew by his actions that the suspect was trying to rob the victim so he exited the clinic with his gun drawn and yelled at the suspect. Afterward, the suspect fled the parking lot, heading down an alleyway next to Discount Trophies.
No one was injured during the incident.
