Security guard puts cameraman in chokehold during game at University of Dayton Arena
Dayton OH March 15 2021
A security guard from the University of Dayton Arena was caught on camera putting a cameraman, who was permitted on court to film post game celebrations, in a chokehold.
Spectators were stunned during the bizarre moment a security guard placed a cameraman in a chokehold after a college basketball game has been captured in stunning detail by a student photographer.
The security guard grabbed the cameraman after the buzzer in the Atlantic 10 final between St. Bonaventure University and VCU, which the former won 74-65 at the University of Dayton Arena.
As players celebrated on court the videographer, who was reportedly allowed on the court and had been earlier throughout the game, was grabbed by the guard around the neck.
St Bonaventure players and staff noticed the cameraman, later identified as a member of the school, as he was being taken away from the court and informed the guard he was with them.
The cameraman was then allowed to film the rest of the post-game celebrations, which was played at the University of Dayton Arena.
According to The Buffalo News, the Atlantic 10 has launched an investigation into the incident.
“We’re aware and we’re looking into it with Dayton,” Drew Dickerson, the league’s assistant commissioner said.
