Security guard robbed of his firearm in Sidwell, police investigating
Port Elizabeth S.A. September 10 2019 – Port Elizabeth police are investigating a case where a 25-year-old security guard, who was on duty was held at gunpoint and robbed of his official firearm on Friday in Sidwell.
“It is alleged that at about 17:00, complainant was parked on a road on the corners of Cadel Street and Uitenhage Road, in Sidwell,” said police spokesperson, Col Priscilla Naidu.
“He was standing outside his vehicle. As he got into his vehicle, he was approached from behind by two unknown males.
“As they neared the vehicle they started firing at him. The security guard fell onto the seat and the suspects leaned into the vehicle and took his 9mm pistol.”
Col Naidu said that it is further alleged that they got into a vehicle and sped off.
“No injuries were sustained and police are investigating a case of attempted murder and armed robbery.”
