Security guard shot during attempted bank robbery in Frayser, police say
Memphis TN October 26 2023 Business owners in Frayser say the violence is out of control.
This comes just after the front of First Horizon Bank on North Watkins Street, was shot out during an attempted robbery that Memphis Police responded just after 1 p.m.
Memphis Police said that a security guard was shot during an attempted bank robbery at First Horizon Bank in Frayser on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023.
Employees told police that two robbers dressed in all black and ski masks were armed with guns when they went inside the bank, police said.
As the robbers left, they fired shots outside the bank, MPD said.
A relative of an employee told FOX13 that the guard was able to stop the suspects before they entered but was hit in the foot by a bullet that ricocheted.
This isn’t the first time this has happened at this bank or in this area.
A nearby business owner told FOX13 that he had video that showed police showing up while his business was being robbed.
Ibrahim Morshed manages a convenience store just doors away from the bank.
He showed FOX13 video of his store being robbed and said that police showed up while the thieves were still inside.
The video showed the getaway driver in a black Infiniti repeatedly blowing the horn warning that the police have arrived.
Police said the security guard was taken to Methodist North Hospital with non-critical injuries and is expected to be okay.
