Security guard shot, killed at Florida motel
Orange County, Fla. Aug 10 2021– A Days Inn security officer was shot and killed late Sunday at an Orange County motel, deputies said.
The fatal shooting was reported at 11:20 p.m. at the Days Inn on 33rd Street near Orlando.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to the motel and found 35-year-old Elias Nasseh suffering from a gunshot wound in the front driver’s seat of a Chevrolet Suburban. According to witnesses, Nasseh works as a security guard at the motel.
A witness was talking to Nasseh in a vehicle when he noticed a man banging on a motel door, sheriff’s officials said.
Nasseh got out of the vehicle to speak with the man, and the witness said she heard someone say, “Let go of my hand” before hearing about three gunshots, officials said.
Nasseh then returned to the SUV and said he had been shot, according to authorities.
Deputies found 19 9mm cartridge casings at the scene.
Nasseh was taken to Orlando Health where he died, deputies said.
Orange County deputies arrested 23-year-old Michael Chinn, who was found in a motel room with his girlfriend and their toddler.
Chinn’s girlfriend told deputies Chinn had been drinking and lost his room key.
He was talking loudly and banging on the door to be let in, officials said.
When he returned to the room, he said someone had pulled a gun on him, according to sheriff’s officials. The girlfriend then called 911, according to the report.
Chinn was taken into custody on a charge of second-degree murder.
