La Brea CA Jan 21 2021 One of two bandits shot and wounded an unarmed security guard during a robbery at a Chinese supermarket in La Brea on Wednesday.
Up to Thursday afternoon, the 45–year-old victim remained in a stable condition at the San Fernando General Hospital.
The police did not give his name, but said he works with Travtech Security Services Ltd and lives at St Margaret’s Village in Claxton Bay.
Police said shortly before 6 pm on Wednesday, two gunmen walked into Welcome supermarket at Majuba Road, La Brea, and announced a robbery.
One jumped over a counter and emptied the cash register while the other stood guard at the entrance.
Apart from the undisclosed sum of money, the bandit also stole cigarettes and bottles of Hennessy.
The unarmed guard was walking near the cash register, and the bandit at the entrance shot him in the thigh.
Both bandits ran off, and people called the police.
La Brea CID responded and searched the area, but the gunmen had already fled. From what police were told, they were not from the area.
Under the supervision of Snr Supt Brandon John, Supt Singh, ASP Mathura and Insp Simon, Cpl Carter and other police from the La Brea CID and the South Western Division Task Force are investigating.
Cpl Carter is leading investigations.
