Security guard sustained broken kneecap, finger in Grant County Courthouse assault
EPHRATA PA May 10 2019 – A Grant County Courthouse security officer sustained a broken kneecap and broken finger in Tuesday’s assault.
Phoenix Protective Corp. security guard Jessica Lewis was working at the public checkpoint in the Grant County Sheriff’s Office lobby when she, following protocol, reportedly confronted Joshua Maher after he refused to show his hands, according to Ephrata police.
Maher and Lewis got into a physical struggle, which continued into the courtyard area where Maher allegedly pushed the guard, causing her to fall.
Lewis was treated on scene before being taken to the hospital for a broken bone in her right knee and a broken finger on her left hand, according to Ephrata police.
Law enforcement continues to actively search for Maher, who is also wanted on a bench warrant after missing his Tuesday court hearing in a narcotics case.
Anyone with information on Maher’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.
