Security guard thwarts Quinte West robbery attempt

A security guard is being credited with stopping an attempted robbery at a Quinte West business early Monday morning.
Quinte West OPP report the guard observed a theft in progress at a West Street business shortly after midnight. The guard was assaulted by the person involved, who fled on foot.
Police report the guard was not injured.
The person of interest is described as a white male approximately 50 years old. He is about 5’7″ tall with grey facial hair. He was wearing glasses and dark blue pants.
