Security guard wounded on Christmas Eve when multiple shots fired outside lounge
Brighton AL December 27 2022 A 28-year-old security guard was shot Christmas Eve while working a private party in Brighton.
The shooting happened just after 11 p.m. Saturday at Jokers Lounge in the 5000 block of Bessemer Super Highway.
Brighton police Lt. Kenneth Hooten, who is also Brighton’s assistant fire chief said first responders were dispatched on a report of a person shot. Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies also responded to the scene.
Authorities arrived to find the security guard shot in the lower back. He was working a private event at the business.
The victim was taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham. He is expected to be OK.
Hooten said investigators found multiple shell casings along Bessemer Super Highway and Brighton Avenue from different caliber weapons. He said details surrounding the gunfire are still being sorted out.
