Security guards charged with manslaughter in death of patient at Toronto hospital
Toronto Canada Dec 9 2020 Police say two security guards have been charged in the death of a patient at a Toronto hospital.
Investigators say security guards working at Toronto General Hospital had a “physical interaction” with a patient on May 11.
They say the patient, identified as 43-year-old Danielle Stephanie Warriner, of Toronto, went into medical distress during the incident and died in hospital later that month.
Police say two people — Amanda Rojas-Silva, 42, of Stouffville, Ont., and Shane Hutley, 35, of Brougham, Ont., — were arrested last week and charged with manslaughter and criminal negligence causing death.
A police spokesperson confirmed the two are the security guards involved in the incident.
Both accused are set to appear in court on Dec. 15. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
