Security guards illegally detained, assaulted and stole from man
Baton Rouge LA Nov 9 2017 Three security guards at a Tigerland area bar have been arrested, accused of using their positions to illegally detain a sound technician and to search his vehicle outside the bar last month, booking documents show.
The victim told police he was working for a local band that was performing Oct. 13. He was sitting inside his truck, taking a break when guards Devin Scarborough, Nicholas Fetty and Kevin Marshall Jr. approached his truck, which was in parking lot of a bar at 1003 Pettit Blvd., according to an arrest warrant filed by Baton Rouge Police.
Police did not identify the bar or the security firm in the report.
The victim said the security guards opened the driver’s side door, pulled him out and placed him in handcuffs before taking his wallet and searching his truck without permission. The report does not specify whether they later returned the victim’s wallet.
Cellphone video footage filmed by members of the Louisiana State Board of Private Security shows the security guards — wearing tactical clothing and armed with firearms — detaining the victim, according to the arrest reports.
“The victim did not commit a felonious action and should not have been detained by any member of the security team,” police said in the warrant.
The video also shows a member of the state security board requesting identification from Marshall, who also says the handcuffs that were used were his, according to the documents.
All three security guards were booked into Parish Prison on one count each of false imprisonment involving a dangerous weapon and simple battery: Scarborough, 25, of 6366 Bayou Black Drive, Gibson, on Wednesday; Marshall, 28, of 4623 Alvin Dark Ave., Baton Rouge, on Nov. 3; and Fetty, 25, of 15059 W. Beaver Drive, Pride, on Nov. 2.
