SARNIA ONT Canada Aug 31 2018 – A suspect returned to the scene of his alleged crime in Sarnia — and was arrested.

According to a news release from the Sarnia Police Service, officers at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday responded to an alarm at a building in the 5000 block of Blackwell Side Road.

A security guard at the scene saw a man exiting the building and attempted to block the suspect’s vehicle with his vehicle while police officers were slowed by a train at a rail crossing.

According to the news release, the security guard moved his vehicle after it appeared the suspect was going to run into it. A police officer attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, but ceased pursuit because of safety concerns.

At about 5:15 a.m., according to the news release, officers were dispatched to the same area where the security officer told them the susect had re-entered the building.

Officers confronted the suspect and took him into custody with no incident.

The suspect is 39 years old and does not have a fixed address. He is charged with:

Two counts of breach of recognizance

Two counts of break and enter

One count of flight from police while being pursued

One count of theft of a motor vehicle

One count of breach of probation

The man is being held for a bail hearing.
