Security officer found shot to death inside Philadelphia home
PHILADELPHIA PA February 27, 2022 A security officer has been found shot to death inside his Philadelphia home, police said.
Now, they’re trying to find who is responsible for the killing and why it happened.
Police said that they first received a call just after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday about a man possibly shot and killed along the 900 block of North 68th Street in the city’s Overbrook section.
Arriving officers knocked on the door and saw a fresh bullet hole in the front living room window, so they broke down the door to get inside.
Officers found the 48-year-old victim in the living room with a gunshot wound to his face. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Investigators also said the victim may have been dead for several hours or even days.
When found, he was in his full security uniform and now police say that he may have arrived home shortly before his death.
“We found him dressed in a security guard uniform from the jacket to the shirt to the pants and he also had other security guard uniforms and jackets hanging inside of the property on hooks,” said Police Chief Inspector Scott Small.
Officers also found other bullet holes inside the home, but no evidence of the home being ransacked.
He may have been targeted, or even followed home from work. Right now, detectives say that they are considering several different theories.
Police say that they are tracking down the man’s employer, looking for area video footage near the scene and questioning residents of the area.
Right now, it’s a mystery a police detective said. One we’re working to solve.
